Masterath's Robot Wars (abbreviated to MRW) is a Fan-Made Robot Wars Series on YouTube which created an over 2 decade legacy after being created in Decmber 2000. The series has produced many first and holds many current records within FMRW. Its creator, Masterath, has created 35 FMRW Series (including the spin off series runs), a record in FMRW. MRW has won 27 FMRW awards overall (an all time FMRW Awards record) with their best awards being the 2011 FMRW Awards where it won 10 awards including solely winning the FMRW Series of the Year which it went on to win 3 times (2009, 2011, & 2012) and has placed in the top 2 in the last 5 FMRW Series of the Year Awards that the series has participated in (placing second in 2010 & 2021). MRW is the only FMRW Series to win multiple FMRW Series of the Year Awards. Many on the FMRW Community believe it to be one of the best FMRW Series ever made, and an influence to many other series even today.

Extreme Robot Wars (2000-2004) & (2010)[]

The beginning The idea for Extreme Robot Wars began in the summer of 2000 and began the very first episode in December of 2000 made by a then 7 year old Masterath. 2 matches were signed and 5 robots competed. The first match was A battle of Toy Cars between Blackshadow, Hot Wheel and Firecar. Blackshadow won the match. The main event was entitled the New Best Two between Hypno-Disc 2 & Triangle Megabot. After a little bit of damage was done to the flipper of Triangle Megabot, It was able to flip Hypno-Disc 2 out of the arena thus winning the match. Other big matches at the start of Extreme Robot Wars includes a battle between Spinner and Squirt where Squirt would win after doing superficial damage to Spinner, Black Widow V1.0's debut where it near enough dominated the annihilator and the most destructive battle in Extreme Robot Wars' legacy, Hypno-Disc 2 VS Dinorush. Where Dinorush would take off Hypno-Disc 2's weapon.

The legacy of CO2 (2000-2004)[]

CO2 in 2001

CO2 in 2000

To this day CO2 remains as maybe the most successful FMRW robot of all time picking up 5 series titles. CO2 remained undefeated for a whole year and at many times was unbeatable. CO2 was a box shaped robot with spikes on it's sides so it would always land on it's feet. Making it very deadly, and a front flipper. CO2 won it's first series title when it beat 15 other robots in an annihilator battle including other robots like Big Wheel, Bluey, Gymnast, The Meat, and Hypno-Disc 2. It won it's second in another annihilator after beating Lansing

in the final. CO2 won it's 3rd championship in 2002 after winning a group of Hypno-Edge, Hot Wheel and Goldround. It would win the tournament when it beat Triangle Megabot in the finals. CO2 suffered it's first defeat at the hands of Kingstonian when a fault struck CO2 just before it was to battle. CO2 then won it's 4th championship in another 16 robot tournament when it beat Double Six in the finals. CO2 won it's last championship in a top 4 legends battle with Bluey 2, Triangle Megabot 2 and Car of Light. CO2's last appearance was in the grand final of the 2004 series where it lost to Acupuncture but made it through the Losers Melee. In the 5 bot grand final it was defeated by Spikearrest and finished second. CO2 has not been seen since CO2's legacy and near unbeatable record however still stands, with over 80 career victories and suffering only 3 defeats.

ERW 2005 - The Unfinished Series (2004)[]

Extremer Robot Wars made a comeback at the end of 2004 with a new series called ERW 2005. But the series never got past the first heat, and was scrapped.

Masterath's Robot Wars VV, Richies Robot Wars, Random Robot Wars and Masterath's other creation, Heavyweight Robot Wars. But after mostly negative reviews, the series was scrapped after 1 episode.

Masterath's Robot Wars (2009-2015)[]

Masterath's Robot Wars finally made it to YouTube in 2009 at the tail end on what has been called the 'first generation' of FMRW Series. MRW ran for 10 series and 8 extreme series from 2009 to 2013 and has been credited for perfecting the extreme series format to the community that was originally brought in by RoboticRandomness including bringing in extreme specific championships. Masterath's Robot Wars Legends became one of the most popular extreme series in FMRW during its run from 2010 to 2013.

The main series of MRW saw 10 series with their champions being Calamity Call 4 (Series 1, 3 & 7), Catalyst (Series 2), Dark Effigy (Series 4), Torto Terror (Series 5), Demon Horns (Series 6), Speed (Series 8 & 10) & Dragoo (Series 9). After 10 main series of MRW, 6 series of Legends and 2 series of Judgement, Masterath announced his retirement from FMRW in 2013 at the end of MRW Series 10 - Endgame.

Masterath did return to FMRW in 2015 with a one-off special episode celebrating 15 years of MRW.

The Return of MRW (2021-present)[]

On February 24th, 2021, Masterath uploaded a video on a premiere giving a late celebration on the 20th anniversary of MRW (the 20th anniversary was back in December 2020) however this was all a ruse as the second half of the video showed The Asylum and featured a robotic voice counting down to 'activate'. This was followed by the announcement that MRW Legends Series 7 is in production. The video's title has since been changed to 'Masterath's Robot Wars is Coming Back!' and the channel's YouTube banner has changed to a background of the new MRW Logo with the words 'It's Back!' below it. This marks Masterath's return to FMRW (apart from specials) for the first time since 2013.

Masterath followed this announcement up on February 26th 2021 with a livestream discussing the upcoming 7th Series of Masterath's Robot Wars Legends including showing the new intro for the series. Masterath mentioned that due to years out, a few of the robots have since degraded to the point that they could not be repaired and have been officially retired. Those included Anderson the Wogrus, Sausageberger, Wedge Flip, Ragna, Blue Motion and Battleaxe. With Crapbot 2010 and F9 getting new builds and some robots only needing small repairs. Masterath also stated that 5 episodes of the new series had been completed at that point with a 6th looking to be completed the day after the livestream. Masterath explained that once all the episodes of this series have been completed, a date will be set for the debut of the new series as to not put himself on the clock which was the main reason for him retiring MRW back in 2013. Masterath also announced that the main event for the first episode of the new series will be Diamondstorm defending the now renamed MRW Legends Championship against Dragoo and Crush Syndrome (a battle between the 3 longest reigning MRW Legends Champions in history.

Since the livestream, Masterath has posted numerous updates about the production of Legends: Series 7. The most recent update stated that episode 10 of the new series was currently in progress and that there will be 13 episodes in the new series.

MRW officially returned with the first episode of the new series of Legends which was released on June 5th, 2021 which was the day after Masterath's 14th year Anniversary on YouTube. Episode 55 of Legends was a 37 Minute 26 Second episode. Ranking it as the 3rd longest episode of MRW Legends behind the 2011 MRW Christmas Special (49 Minutes 18 Seconds) and The 15th Anniversary of MRW Special (44 Minutes 42 Seconds).

Series 7 of Legends concluded on the 13th episode of the series on August 28th, 2021, being the first MRW episode to go over 1 hour with Dark Effigy becoming only the 3rd robot to win the Legends Championship 3 times (with Diamondstorm and Calamity Call 5 winning it for the 3rd time earlier in the series). Masterath ended the video with a discussion thanking everyone for watching the 7th series of Legends which he says is one of the best series that he has ever produced. He also discusses the future of MRW from here on in. Masterath states that bar a few potential specials, MRW will be very infrequent in the future due to time constraints but that the next project the he will work on if he ever finds the time to do so will be the much anticipated Masterath's Robot Wars: Series 11. Which would be the first MRW main series for 8 years.

In December of 2021, Masterath released a trailer for the MRW Christmas Special 2021. The first MRW Christmas Special in a decade. The trailer included all 3 championships on the line, 4 new robots making their debut and the return of the Christmas Feast Match. This episode is the longest episode of MRW to date at nearly 66 minutes. It included 6 matches with Red Dawn winning the first Christmas Feast match since 2011, AK-1 becoming the 3rd MRW Triple Crown Champion by winning the MRW Tag-Team Championships with Demon Horns and Catalyst winning the Legends Championship for the first time in 12 years. This is so far the last episode of MRW to date.

In The 2021 FMRW Awards, MRW picked up 3 more awards putting their total up to 27. MRW's Lord Justice picked up 2 awards (Axe of the year & Shocking Moment of the Year for destroying the original X-Calibur). MRW also joint won Battle of the Year (alongside Crystal Carnage) for the first battle in the Diamondstorm Vs. Demon Horns Trilogy during Legends Series 7 and came runner up in the Series of the Year award, losing out Robot Wars Omega. This makes the 5th time that MRW has placed in the top 2 of FMRW Series of the Year (winning it in 2009, 2011, & 2012 and coming second in 2010 and 2021). More than any other series in FMRW history with the closest runners being RWA and Robo War who have placed in the top 2 twice (RWA finishing second in 2012 and winning in 2020 & Robo War finishing second in 2011 and winning in 2010).
